Disunity in the body politic of Nigerian nation is yet to abate fueled by the path of her nationhood from the historic forge of diverse peoples for a common destiny. In spite of the great resources of the Providence has bestowed on the land. The result of this situation has been policies upon policies over the years aimed at tinkering unity of the constituent parts and interests amidst clamour for self determination by sections of the polity and strife which it underpins. The purpose of the study is to utilize the instruments of visual arts in Nigeria to bring about national integration and the role of the media in the conciliation of the centrifugal forces. A qualitative method of research was employed in the study. Primary and secondary sources of information were used for the study, which reveals that national consciousness is of the mind and can be articulated for sustainable national development. The study recommends that the media, with twenty-first century verve, must synergize with visual arts that stems from the nation's cultural milieu for effective strategic mass communication for sustainable development.
