Nigeria has witnessed a cross-current of linguistic activities as a result of her inherent multilingual nature coupled with her colonial experience under the British and is unarguably one of the most linguistically diverse countries in the world. Out of all these languages, the English language is the most dominant because of its official status. Competing side by side with the English language, however, are such varieties as the Nigerian English (NE) and the Nigerian Pidgin (NP) which are variants of the English language and which evolved from its contact with the indigenous languages. This paper therefore discussed the Nigerian English Language users choice code in context of situations to include the relationship between participants in a discourse, the place where the discourse is taking place, the message being conveyed or the intended meaning, the purpose of the interaction and the speaker's attitude towards a particular language.
